Twenty-one (21) persons have been confirmed dead and many injured in the early morning bomb explosion in Mubi town of Adamawa state.
The incident occurred at the Shiwa mosque in Yelwa area of the town. Mubi which is the commercial nerve of the state, woke up to the barbaric act which was carried during the early morning prayers.
Adamawa state Governor, Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla had earlier condemned the act.
He said ” I condemn the unfortunate situation of a bomb blast early this morning at the Shiwa mosque in the Yelwa area of Mubi. We will continue to ensure that our people are protected and given a sense of security which is the most important responsibility of any government.”
The governor said that all security agencies have been engaged to do the needful and take all necessary measures. He called for calm, saying security has been stepped up in Mubi and environs.
“We will not rest until those behind this wicked act are brought to book. May the souls of the departed rest in peace.” Gov Bindow added.
