Serena Williams’ quest to win a 24th Grand Slam Title has again been halted at the U.S. Open by Victoria Azarenka. Williams had seek to win a major title after given birth to her daughter in 2017.
Azarenka cameback to defeated Williams 1-6 6-3 6-3 after power first set by Williams’ serves and powerful, accurate drives, for a victory as the women’s semifinals in New York hit lofty heights.
Williams has struggle to win a major title since 2018, and has lost in 4 grand slam titles finals. This may be described as a temporary end, but she would have to wait for another major competition to achieve the 24th grand slam title and equal Margaret Court who has won 24 titles.
Former U.S Open Champion, Naomi Osaka earlier defeated first-time grand slam semifinalist Jennifer Brady 7-6 3-6 6-3 in a three sets in what could be described as a thrilling game and another high-quality tussle show between the two.
This sets a final between Naomi Osaka and Victoria Azarenka at the U.S. open.
