Farai festival is the foremost Bwatiye cultural heritage. The 2021 ceremony commences with “hauto” which means farming, signifies the first day of events. The festival is Dubbed Farai Farai, the traditional ceremony is one observed to usher in the rainy season for planting of crops by the Bwatiye people.
The Vunon Festival (which the actual name of the festival) dates back to about three centuries ago. It is celebrated by the Bachama, Batta and Mbula people for the first rain of the year. It usually takes place at Farai, the village of Nzeanzo.
The festival is fun filled with a lot of cultural renditions and wrestling bouts that involves also the Mbula people coupled with several side attractions that are done on a lush green area off the road in-between DEMSA and Numan. It is a picnic of some sort where you can savour mouth watering delicacies.
The festivity, full of side attractions where brands come to promote their products and services through social activities. Farai commences on Friday and terminates Sunday and is celebrated.
