So much furore has attended the recent purported defection, declaration, purchase of forms and or even denial by the man who is reputed to have made headlines for growing up without shoes. For all purposes and intents, what seem to be causing more uneasy calm is the deafening silence from the the very man in question.
Here is a man blessed to lead his people by the accident of Fortune but was villified by dubious do or die politicians that accused him of ineptitude, sponsoring Boko Haram, insurgency and a colossal failure being wooed into the fray of presidential politicking in the ranks of his bitterest critics, the APC.
When such happens, the world must have gone upside-down. How can this be true? Why should this inept president, sponsor of terrorism be allowed to appear within the ranks of APC from the blues as a nominee without joining the party and contrary to party provisions with no opposition from his vittrolic critic in Aso Rock not cautioning the party? From all indications,all is not well.
What is at stake, from all indications is both intriguing and dubious, except the party comes up with an apology that after all the criticism in the past, it has failed and therefore considers inept Goodluck a better choice capable of joining their ranks. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, a name that has baffled Nigerians by handing over power after a contentious election to avoid” baboons and dogs being soaked in blood” is at the center of a new drama. His volte face and sudden rumoured switchover to the APC has muddled the thinking capacity of many and generated several confusing lines of thinking.
That he is now in the fold of his not so long ago traducers, leaves much to be to be deciphered.
More astounding is that rumors of his impending outing as the APC’s presidential candidate were considered absurd and unimaginable until the recent confirmation of his being counted amongst APC presidential gladiators.How this came about is yet to be clear, although such is not completely strange in Nigeria’s unprincipled and unconscionable political culture.From all indications, Jonathan has either lost his bearings or is in the verge of committing political hara kiri.
It is surprising that the erstwhile terrorism sponsor is now the darling of very concerned Fulani men at a time the nation is battling the scourge of herdsmen(terrorist). It will appear that the herdsmen (terrorist)are in the picture or else why the invitation of a hitherto sponsor of terrorism in their good books?
A whooping one hundred million for the services of Goodluck Jonathan is a high fare for whatever service he will be expected to render. And to boot,it is expected that the campaign will gulp much more from his sponsors.
This incredible doling out of money that has enticed Jonathan is no doubt an APC ploy to create a smokescreen that will enable the looting horde that have feathered their best by plundering our common wealth.
Whatever the case; whether he was wooed or bullied, cajoled , or fooled, he might be walking into a political minefield, a snare by his enemies that will lead him into irredemable political oblivion.
Whatever the case, the underbelly of the APC has been exposed by their lack of ideas and the long held believe that the president has been shopping for someone that can help him share his colossal lose of credibility has been brought to the fore. Now, for all that it is worth, the game has just begun.
