Domestic Legal News

The court presided over by Justice Okon Abang proceeded to assume jurisdiction over the matter, taking cognisance of a Supreme Court judgement affirming same.

On the 7-count amended charge against Olisa Metuh and his company destra investments, the court held that their was no documentary evidence that  former President Goodluck Jonathan authorised the former national security adviser colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd)) to transfer the money to Metuh.

The court held that Metuh ought to have known the source was illicit, and the first defendant’s argument that it was for security purposes was not supported by facts.

The court observed that transfers from the 400m in  Metuh’s bank account  to various political functionaries was also proof that the money was used for the pdp’s political activities in 2015, and Metuh’s personal use. The court also found him guilty of destroying his written statement before the EFCC.
