Adamawa State Government has engaged about one hundred members of vigilante group and is providing them incentives to compliment efforts of security agencies in Garkida among other areas in the state.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri revealed this on Tuesday when he granted audience to members of United Bura Community in Jimeta – Yola on a courtesy visit in the Government House, Yola.
He decried the unfortunate incidence in Garkida by suspected Boko Haram insurgents and declared that government has respondent promptly by rebuilding some of the damaged facilities.
He further disclosed that his administration has collaborated with the North East Development Commission NEDC and soon other interventions in the rehabilitation and construction will kick off in the area.
He reminded people that security of lives and property should not only be left in the hands of government and security agents but charged the all and sundry to also complement their efforts in that regard.
He called on people to collectively engage in prayers and fasting to seek God’s intervention towards ending the menace of Boko Haram insurgency and other criminality in Adamawa and Nigeria in general.
Earlier in his speech, Prince Simon Ali Tarfa who was the leader of the delegation thanked the Governor for matching his words with action as exhibited by his prompt response when the insurgents invaded Garkida community.
He prayed to God to increase the Governor wisdom, and grant him courage in piloting the affairs of the state to greater heights and assured their continued support and loyalty to the present administration.
Highlight of the visit was a symbolic presentation of title of Katsala in Bura culture to Governor Umaru Fintiri as the protector of the land by Professor Andrawus Sawa.
