About two hundred million dollars has been expended by the world bank in executing out its projects in Adamawa while sixty two million dollars were also available for disbursement within the next one or two years.
This was disclosed by Professor Folusho Okuwaden who led a team from the world bank in an interactive session with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and some top government officials in the Council Chamber Government House, Yola Monday.
Professor Okuwaden revealed that the world bank has projects being executed in Adamawa with six of the projects to be completed in the next two years.
The team leader explained that the officials were in the Government House, Yola for detailed discussion with the state government on activities of the World Bank in the state.
He said the interactive session was the fallout of a meeting between the representatives of the world bank and the Nigeria Governors where they agreed for more robust discussion at the state government levels to strengthen the partnership with the financial institution.
He revealed that among the states selected, Adamawa was the first state in the Northern part of the country where the bank was holding the meeting to ensure good understanding and alignment of the world bank assisted projects.
Responding after a closed door interactive session with the world bank officials, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri expressed appreciation for the intervention on some projects in Adamawa.
The Governor said the intervention which covers education, healthcare and infrastructure among others has positively touched the lives of the people in the state and solicited for more of such programmes.
He revealed that the state has suffered setback and under-development in the past, adding his administration has adopted policies that will ensure proper coordination of all development partners intervention in the state.
Governor Umaru Fintiri said the present administration will support the the world bank projects in Adamawa for the overall interest of the people.
