Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Chief Crowther Seth who represented the Governor, RT. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri was full of praises to the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) for it prompt interventions in IDP Camps following an earlier plea by the State Government. Chief Crowther promised that the State Government will continue to synergize with the Commission in bringing succor to IDPs living in camps and the host Communities across the State.
The Deputy Governor made further appeal to the NEDC for more as the State is presently grappling with a lot of problems ranging from from dilapidated infrastructures to man-made and natural disasters. He said the Boko Haram insurgency has left an indelible mark on the State which will require collaborations between the State and Federal Government with tenacity to surmount. Chief Crowther also assured the IDPs that with the person of RT. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as Governor, it will no longer be business as usual as every single item donated shall go to them.
Delivering the items to the State Government on behalf of the Commission, Hon. Ahmadu Waziri who is the Senior Technical Assistant to the Managing Director on Interventions and Synergy, reiterated the Commission’s commitment to working with the State Government in rebuilding it from the ruins of insurgency and other disasters. He said the donations were just the first in the line of interventions to come to the State from the Commission. Hon. Waziri said the members of the team who were on a study visit to the State on Monday 16th September were moved by the sufferings of the IDPs hence, the prompt donations of the food items.
Expressing their gratitudes on behalf of the IDPs, Fatima Hassan, women leader of the Malkohi camp and Bakura Umar, Chairman of Fufore Camp appreciated the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for it’s concerns towards the IDPs.
In their separate remarks decried their neglect in the past and how their existence in the state was almost denied which prevented them from accessing relief from well meaning individuals and organisations. They further appealed to the Federal Government to assist them with startup capitals to enable them thrive their trades as most of them already have skills.
Hon. Waziri was accompanied by Professor Umar Bobboi, Research and Development of the Commision and other State officers. They donated 400 bags of rice and 200 cartons of 5 liter vegetable oils
