A lot of people are hell bent on critising any act of the present administration in Adamawa state. Granted they are sour with the Government that they hate but can do nothing about. Their latest grouse is the formidable projects embarked upon by the government to get access to rural communities across the state. Why anyone would think negatively about these and try to make an anthill into a mountain is a thing to ponder over.
The criticisms come at a time Adamawa state needs to concentrate on its relative backyardness caused by the way the previous administration handled the RAMP issue. Many of the few critics wittingly or ignorantly want to make it appear as if the state government has no stake in the affair.
Facts stand to be cleared;the state government is a pivotal stakeholder as it has to support the program with counterpart- funding which this Government had to do even to the extent of paying the backlog left by the previous Government under Jibrilla Bindow unpaid.
The three hundred and fifty kilometers of roads will be co- sponsored by the state government,World Bank and the French Development Agency. To do this,the state government has to show interest by footing the counterpart-funding,which this Government did.
This Government did not lay claim to be solely responsible for the projects,neither did it try to obscure the role of other contributors.
So,what is the grouse? Detractors have a way of finding faults everything done by this Government in a combative way, they believe that everything must be done by their standards,they hate and try to find fault with anything they failed to do… Adamawa does not need afly-over, it is not a fly-over…. Adamawa is not moving forward….. paying salaries as at when due is not an achievement , why are they greeting him while squatting? They should salute or stand at attention, why is he not paying more money? He should promote all, leave grants, salaries not increased properly, not all promotions have been effected etc. This is to be expected . When someone doesn’t like a Government , his last recourse is to rant over even all the best he failed to do. Unfortunately for them the people know what they want and can see what the Government is doing.
This Government is not geared towards cheap populism of playing to the gallery, rather it is focused on the promises it made to the people. It is bent on fulfilling the promises and doing even more despite the highly competing priorities occasioned by the Covid- 19 pandemic that was not envisaged.
The road to a total resolution of the problems is rough, but this rugged , people inspired Government is equal to the task and will continue to implement policies for the good of the people.
Many obstacles have been laid in the path of this purposeful Government,a lot said and done to see it fail from the day election results were declared to the present day to no avail.
Winston Churchill, British war-time Prime Minister had this say “Do your worst, I will do my best”. THIS OF COURSE IS THE FINTIRII SLOGAN as he concentrates on the task of rebuilding Adamawa despite daunting challenges
